After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Domingo Demesio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Domingo Demesio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jose Correa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jesus Orlondo. Mojotoro AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 31st minute of play forced Mojotoro AFC's goalkeeper Jesus Orlondo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. Mojotoro AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 35th minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Filiberto Cordarrell's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. In the 38th minute of the match, Ezequiel Tonete got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jonathan Ferrant was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
