The crowd rose to their feet as FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Horia Chioreanu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 13 minutes of play. After having played for 17 minutes, Valer Perișoară managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valer Perișoară was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Lucrețiu Sfetcu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 21st minute of play. Lucrețiu Sfetcu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lucrețiu Sfetcu. Lucrețiu Sfetcu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 28th minute of play forced FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's goalkeeper Lucrețiu Sfetcu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Lucrețiu Sfetcu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play. Basarab Panduru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Lucrețiu Sfetcu. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lucrețiu Sfetcu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Basarab Panduru's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. With a little luck, FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Lucrețiu Sfetcu got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Lucrețiu Sfetcu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 60th minute. The corner led to Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt made a substitution. Costin Malcoci replaced Horia Chioreanu. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valer Perișoară didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costin Malcoci's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Manuel Tunaru got a free kick in the 83rd minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
