The referee showed Saverio Cristos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Espirillo FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Saverio Cristos hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 5th minute of play forced Espirillo FC's goalkeeper Jorge Iztal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Iztal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Cristo Elia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Jorge Iztal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 16th minute of the match. Felix Montenegro took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jorge Iztal. Jorge Iztal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Jorge Iztal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorge Iztal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 23rd minute of play. In the 27th minute, Aaron Cutberto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gregorio Hotz in the 30th minute of play. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Espirillo FC's goalie and right to Luis Andino. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Espirillo FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Arnoldo Arotza struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Espirillo FC. After 43 played minutes Espirillo FC got a freekick which was hit by Abel Demario. In the 43rd minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jorge Iztal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 45th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

After having played for 50 minutes, Aaron Cutberto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espirillo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aaron Cutberto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Espirillo FC's Jorge Iztal got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jorge Iztal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 57th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aaron Cutberto in the 63rd minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Iztal having to interfere. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jorge Iztal came out and tried to block the shot, but Felix Montenegro slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 73rd minute. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Jorge Iztal made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gregorio Hotz in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Espirillo FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rico Migachev in the 83rd minute. Rico Migachev made a great header on Espirillo FC's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Antonio Arias's late challenge caught a Espirillo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Arias helped the player get up and apologised. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Gregorio Hotz took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.
