Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cecilio Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Cecilio Martinez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Athletic Bostero's Cecilio Martinez managed to reach the ball for a save. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar in the 18th minute. The audience was convinced that Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Athletic Bostero's goalkeeper Cecilio Martinez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 58 minutes into the match, Athletic Bostero's goalkeeper Cecilio Martinez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar in the 62nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Athletic Bostero's Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 85th minute of play forced Athletic Bostero's goalkeeper Cecilio Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hüseyin Rahmi Tanpınar, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Leo Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Athletic Bostero fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
