Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Serafo in the 11th minute of play. After some careless play in the Mainumby defense, Tomas Berganza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guaberto Cucao. The Mainumby fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guaberto Cucao should have stopped the shot. Mainumby's Guaberto Cucao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 18th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Ladislao Serafo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ladislao Serafo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 38 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Jose Carita. 39 minutes into the match, Justino Estavan sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Marcos Cotilla threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Justino Estavan this time. 40 minutes in the game, Tomas Berganza dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. In the 42nd minute Ladislao Serafo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute of the match Panama got a corner. Mainumby's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abraham Alguacil ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mainumby's Ezequiel Sugoi was substituted for Silvano Tiadoro. Mainumby made a substitution. Francisco Dominic replaced Lázaro Chap. Mainumby's Dante Sidro was substituted for Dionisio Acevedo. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Dominic to strike the kick off in the second half. When Alex Cambeiro came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Cambeiro couldn't finish the play. 59 minutes into the match, Mainumby's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Guaberto Cucao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Alex Cambeiro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Guaberto Cucao made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 66th minute. 69 minutes into the game, Felipe Ros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mainumby the free kick. Francisco Dominic scored 2-2 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 78 minutes, Ladislao Serafo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mainumby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ladislao Serafo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Ladislao Serafo sped through Panama's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Serafo in the 85th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ladislao Serafo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. Guaberto Cucao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 93rd minute of play. Abraham Alguacil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Guaberto Cucao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 98th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guaberto Cucao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mainumby's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
