Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Verón in the 44th minute of play. The Club Sportivo Quilmes players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-1.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Pastor Firman in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 92 minutes of play, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pastor Firman was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Club Sportivo Quilmes fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
