Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Evelio Pes took the kick off in the first half of the match. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Reynaldo Stephen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Evelio Pes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 5th minute Evelio Pes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Evelio Pes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Reynaldo Stephen came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Felix Montenegro. But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Club Sportivo Italiano's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Reynaldo Stephen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Club Sportivo Italiano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Reynaldo Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play. Club Sportivo Italiano's Reynaldo Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Reynaldo Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. Club Sportivo Italiano's Reynaldo Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. In the 38th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Stephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Reynaldo Stephen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 40 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. After having played for 41 minutes, Luisito Bikendi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Sportivo Italiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luisito Bikendi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisito Bikendi in the 56th minute of the match. Evelio Pes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Reynaldo Stephen made a huge save. In the 68th match minute, Club Sportivo Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Urbes to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Club Sportivo Italiano's Basilio Araoz got a free kick in the 70th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Reynaldo Stephen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reynaldo Stephen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Reynaldo Stephen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 81st minute of the match. Basilio Araoz hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Reynaldo Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of play. In the 88thth minute of the game Evelio Pes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Evelio Pes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Club Sportivo Italiano throughout the match.
