After a defensive mix-up in B-S-L's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Lundgren came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter Lundgren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Nildo Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, B-S-L's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Di Angelsø, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. B-S-L's Peter Lundgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 16th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Júnior de Moraes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Júnior de Moraes really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Di Angelsø in the 25th minute of play. Peter Lundgren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Di Angelsø, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Di Angelsø in the 30th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Júnior de Moraes. In the 38th minute Di Angelsø shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, B-S-L's Basílio Terra dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The supporters of B-S-L booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Di Angelsø in the 47th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior de Moraes in the 54th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, one of B-S-L:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for B-S-L. The referee gave Venezuela a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tomas Illescas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of B-S-L's Peter Lundgren. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 62nd minute of play forced B-S-L's goalkeeper Peter Lundgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Tomas Illescas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Peter Lundgren. The goal made the score 2-2. In the 72nd minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Venezuela's Jose Correa quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ulryk Olszewski, made in the 73rd minute of the game. Peter Lundgren was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Illescas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 82 minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júnior de Moraes in the 86th minute of play. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Jeferson Cordeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. After 91 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Guga Bezerra. Peter Lundgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 96th match minute, B-S-L was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulryk Olszewski to maneuver through the defense.
