Arnoldo Medina might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arnoldo Medina ran back to his position shaking his head. Santiago Mino succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 12th playminute. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Arnoldo Medina made a great header on Palermo's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnoldo Medina's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. In the 24th minute, Arnoldo Medina fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jonathan Ferrant, passed just outside the right post. In the 24th match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carles Borg to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Santiago Mino sent off a good shot on target. Santiago Mino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnoldo Medina scored 3-0 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Palermo booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arnoldo Medina in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Santiago Mino struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palermo. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 54 minutes into the match, Santiago Mino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. In the 66th minute Arnoldo Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palermo were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Saul Felo took the corner. At last the ball reached Sven-Arne Olsson at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Venezuela. 5-0. Carles Borg hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After having played for 78 minutes, Sven-Arne Olsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Arne Olsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Mino in the 81st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Venezuela's Tomas Illescas to fire away a dangerous shot which Alfredo Joey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The supporters of Palermo booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute Santiago Mino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palermo walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
