The crowd rose to their feet as Onagoity AFC's Nestor Hug slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 11 minutes of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Onagoity AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Al Plato didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaudencio Gervaso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. 24 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Onagoity AFC's Gaudencio Gervaso. Gaudencio Gervaso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Nestor Hug stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Nestor Hug tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play forced Onagoity AFC's goalkeeper Gaudencio Gervaso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Nestor Hug dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 2-1. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Rolando Sidro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Gaudencio Gervaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 42nd minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Sidro in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute of the match Onagoity AFC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rolando Sidro ran over to the corner to take the kick. Onagoity AFC's Rolando Sidro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 59 minutes into the match, Onagoity AFC's goalkeeper Gaudencio Gervaso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Rolando Sidro struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Onagoity AFC. Onagoity AFC made a substitution. Amancio Artizar replaced Arnoldo Columbo. After a defensive mix-up in Onagoity AFC's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaudencio Gervaso came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Onagoity AFC's Gaudencio Gervaso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Onagoity AFC from getting a goal against them. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Gaudencio Gervaso in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 75th minute, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. After having played for 79 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Hug in the 83rd minute of play. Onagoity AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rolando Sidro in the 84th minute. Onagoity AFC's Rolando Sidro got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Gaudencio Gervaso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Onagoity AFC's Rolando Sidro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 94th minute, which Gaudencio Gervaso however easily saved by the left post. Rolando Sidro struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Onagoity AFC. When the referee blew the final whistle, Onagoity AFC could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
