If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Paulin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes Defensores de Lombroso's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. Godfredo Gau could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save.
