Konrad Knopek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. When Camilo Gisbert fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Camilo Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Konrad Knopek blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Konrad Knopek in the 94th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Konrad Knopek came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Rega Merida CF were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
