After some careless play in the Garlic Eaters defense, Lautaro Puig kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nikolay Bonkov. The Garlic Eaters fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nikolay Bonkov should have stopped the shot. Garlic Eaters's Noel Broom managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 20 minute of the game. The supporters of Garlic Eaters booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Justin Collingwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 25th minute of play forced Garlic Eaters's goalkeeper Nikolay Bonkov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Alexander Carballo in the 27th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Garlic Eaters's Tommy Hanley. Garlic Eaters's Gerry Cheeseman got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Efrain Moruga made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Garlic Eaters's Noel Broom. Garlic Eaters's Noel Broom managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Abel Carballo in the 39 minute of the game. Fitz Lambley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abel Carballo made in the 43rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Garlic Eaters's Tommy Hanley. Nikolay Bonkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Puig in the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nikolay Bonkov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Costa Rica were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerry Cheeseman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Efrain Moruga made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Eliseo Noboa immediately put the ball in play. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justin Collingwood in the 63rd minute of the match. Garlic Eaters's Antony Best quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Juan Rubio, made in the 65th minute of the game. In the 66th minute, Fitz Lambley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 68th minute of the game Pavol Stano made a throw-in which Tommy Hanley played forward. 69 minutes into the game, one of Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Garlic Eaters. Pavol Stano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benito Sanz. 2-3. Garlic Eaters's Nikolay Bonkov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 76th minute of play. Axel Tasis scored 2-4 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nikolay Bonkov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Garlic Eaters booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Gerry Cheeseman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Garlic Eaters's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerry Cheeseman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 88 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga threw the ball into play from the sideline. Garlic Eaters's Tommy Hanley quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nigel Ingham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garlic Eaters's Nigel Ingham quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hugo Ferrant, made in the 92nd minute of the game. Hugo Ferrant made in the 93rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Garlic Eaters's Nigel Ingham. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 95th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Garlic Eaters's Noel Broom. Hugo Ferrant got a throw-in 97 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Aaron Alcocer.
