The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Zacarias Francesco took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. Camilo Gaos's late challenge caught a Characate FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gaos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 6th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. 9 minutes in the game, Zacarias Francesco dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. In the 11th minute, Characate FC's Zacarias Francesco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zacarias Francesco in the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Zacarias Francesco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Zacarias Francesco made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zacarias Francesco in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Zacarias Francesco received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Zacarias Francesco slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 37th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Zacarias Francesco came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Ferrant could save by the left post. 42 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Afonso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Leopoldo Afonso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-0. Benjamin Price made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 45th minute of play. Emre Can recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

51 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Afonso came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Leopoldo Afonso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Afonso in the 62nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Leopoldo Afonso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Leopoldo Afonso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Afonso in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Santikurtz in the 71st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Characate FC's Leopoldo Afonso got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 80 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Afonso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Afonso in the 83rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Afonso in the 85th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Venezuela fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 89th minute. Penalty! In the 97th minute Leopoldo Afonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
