Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Adilson Breckenfeld scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 2-1. In the 45th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
