In the 14th minute of the match Capivara FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zhang Chen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Vinícius Junior recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Péter Pálffy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 21st minute of play. In the 24th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Péter Pálffy was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Capivara FC's Neycho Mudrov got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 61st minute of play forced Capivara FC's goalkeeper Péter Pálffy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Doriva Tavares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Capivara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zhang Chen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Capivara FC made a substitution. Manoel Garrincha replaced João Francisco Mota. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doriva Tavares in the 74th minute of play. The attack was good, but when Felix Montenegro in the 75th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Doriva Tavares in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Capivara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Péter Pálffy to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Neycho Mudrov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doriva Tavares's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Capivara FC's Doriva Tavares. But to his dismay, Doriva Tavares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 96th minute, Neycho Mudrov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Capivara FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
