If Mateo Leguizamo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Arne Duset in the 6th minute of the match. Leif Browall didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Moises Fernandino went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Joshua Curbelo hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A sloppy throw-in by Marcus Britz in the 30th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by El Salvador's Marco Tamayo. Ricardo Zorita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stig-Arne Duset went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Valentino Ferrant got a free kick in the 35th minute. A collision led to FK Crvena Zvezda getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Erland Hagström hit a great ball. Abram Luque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Browall having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Malcolm Göransson was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to FK Crvena Zvezda getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Marcus Britz hit a great ball. In the 58th minute, Abram Luque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Moises Fernandino came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Fernandino couldn't finish the play. Leif Browall made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moises Fernandino in the 63rd minute. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Abram Luque got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 83 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Jesus Carvallo. Dag Jansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. In the 86th minute, Stig-Arne Duset ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. FK Crvena Zvezda's Leif Browall proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save FK Crvena Zvezda from getting a goal against them. Stig-Arne Duset received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the El Salvador players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FK Crvena Zvezda.
