The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anıl Baran Akça showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tony Van Der Weghen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aytek Teoman, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Aytek Teoman sped through FC Bruges's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tony Van Der Weghen. When Utkan Aytekin in the 20th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Tony Van Der Weghen kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 2-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. After a defensive mix-up in FC Bruges's zone, Mustafa Emrah Sayyad stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tony Van Der Weghen came out of the goal and Mustafa Emrah Sayyad tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 28 minutes into the game, Richy Wiggers cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Anıl Baran Akça was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tony Van Der Weghen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Utkan Aytekin in the 32nd minute of play. With a little luck, FC Bruges's Tony Van Der Weghen got control of the ball when Aytek Teoman tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Utkan Aytekin struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Tony Van Der Weghen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC. When Richy Wiggers fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Bruges's protests and gave Richy Wiggers a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC booed when FC Bruges was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richy Wiggers didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC were the better team. Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
