After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Reinaert Ketelers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Brugge's supporters rose to their feet, but Reinaert Ketelers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filip Van der Vorst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jef De Langhe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maarten Belmans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Seppe Van Hoovelt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jef De Langhe. The goal made the score 3-0. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Jarno Leemans got a free kick in the 46th minute. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Maarten Belmans got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dave Goorts was the one to do the kick off.
