After a rather tough play, Palermo AFC's Teodosio Elivareo got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute of the match David Vale sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Domingo Serafo skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Palermo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elvio Olo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Domingo Serafo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafim Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Nelsinho Marinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Domingo Serafo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If David Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Domingo Serafo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelsinho Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelsinho Marinho to make the kick off. Nelsinho Marinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Domingo Serafo made a huge save. Domingo Serafo came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho. But to his dismay, Nelsinho Marinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Domingo Serafo was a little too slow when Serafim Simão got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Serafim Simão got free with Domingo Serafo in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Ulysses Neto replaced Doni Pimenta. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodosio Elivareo in the 72nd minute of the match. Palestra do Interior's Delfim Quintal managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Elias Barto in the 73 minute of the game. 77 minutes into the game, Elvio Olo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palermo AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick.
