Ruy Goiano came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Bastioes EC's Edgar de Lima. But to his dismay, Edgar de Lima quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Lopes in the 7th minute of play forced Portuguesa's goalkeeper Ruy Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Bastioes EC booed when Portuguesa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Portuguesa's Ruy Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgar de Lima in the 11th minute of play. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Portuguesa's Betinho Severo in the 13th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Igor Nascimento was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Bastioes EC through an amazing save. Ruy Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Mandrak in the 14th minute of the match. Zé Paulo Mendes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Igor Nascimento firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 24th minute, Geovânio Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ruy Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Lopes in the 27th minute of the match. In the 29th minute Fernando Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruy Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Lopes in the 30th minute of play. After 32 minutes of play, Bastioes EC's Marcel Lopes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Goiano was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 35th minute, Fernando Mandrak made a precise shot to the right of Ruy Goiano. Portuguesa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Betinho Severo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Igor Nascimento. That made the score 1-3 in the 42 minute of play. The Portuguesa players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bastioes EC were winning 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Paulo Mendes was the one to do the kick off. When Marcel Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Bastioes EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcel Lopes couldn't finish the play. Portuguesa's Ruy Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Portuguesa from getting a goal against them. Zé Paulo Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Igor Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Portuguesa's Ruy Goiano got control of the ball when Fernando Mandrak tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, Bastioes EC's Ruy Goiano threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edgar de Lima, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ruy Goiano made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Fernando Mandrak sent off a good shot on target. 68 minutes into the game, Jardel Quintal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portuguesa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bastioes EC the free kick. After 68 played minutes Portuguesa got a freekick which was hit by Jardel Quintal. If Zé Paulo Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcel Lopes's late challenge caught a Portuguesa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcel Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 73rd minute, Marcel Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Portuguesa's supporters rose to their feet, but Kauã da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Igor Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 88 minutes into the game, Oscar Seco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bastioes EC's Geovânio Aguiar couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 89th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Portuguesa. After a rather tough play, Bastioes EC's Leonel Félix got a free kick in the 90th minute. Bastioes EC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
