With a little luck, Fågelmara IK's Olov Lilja got control of the ball when Kristian Sandersen tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 8th match minute, Fågelmara IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bo-Erik Pedersson to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Fågelmara IK getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. David Bohlin hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Gjessing in the 11th minute of play forced Fågelmara IK's goalkeeper Olov Lilja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Håkan Adelsköld kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute of the match, Morten Hestad got a very nice opportunity to score, but Olov Lilja was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 15 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Alfons Siggesson came free, but Christer Waaler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Fågelmara IK's zone, Morten Hestad stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olov Lilja came out of the goal and Morten Hestad tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 24 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Leidland. After 25 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by John-Einar Bøen. After 26 played minutes, Fågelmara IK's Sven-Olof Soned shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Christer Waaler came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fågelmara IK reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andréas Asserlind in the 30th minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper Christer Waaler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kenneth Leidland kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Morten Hestads short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Olov Lilja to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Christer Waaler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bo-Erik Pedersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute, Kenneth Leidland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 44 played minutes Fågelmara IK got a freekick which was hit by Gustaf Holmgren. Kristian Sandersen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Olov Lilja tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Åsnes booed when Fågelmara IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfons Siggesson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olov Lilja made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Morten Hestad in the 60th minute of play. Gustaf Holmgren's late challenge caught a Åsnes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustaf Holmgren helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd match minute, Fågelmara IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustaf Holmgren to maneuver through the defense. 62 minutes into the match, Åsnes's Kristian Sandersen broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 68 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Morten Hestad. In the 70th minute, Morten Hestad sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Fågelmara IK's Olov Lilja didn't even have to move. Åsnes's Rune Gjessing got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olov Lilja took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rune Gjessing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sven-Olof Soned received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Christer Waaler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Åsnes getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Steffen Askvik hit a great ball. After 85 minutes, Tomas Åhman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fågelmara IK and the Åsnes players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th minute, one of Fågelmara IK:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Fågelmara IK. The referee gave Åsnes a penalty, 87 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Kristian Sandersen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Fågelmara IK's Olov Lilja. 1-0. John-Einar Bøen lost his temper 98 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, Åsnes's John-Einar Bøen got a free kick in the 98th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Åsnes had won after a very even match.
