Ernesto Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denílson Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Ernesto Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Narusēvičs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benedito Nóbrega made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Cipriano Vidal sent off a good shot on target. Didi Pires struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Benedito Nóbrega didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CA Portugália. The crowd rose to their feet as CA Portugália's Didi Pires slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benedito Nóbrega. That made the score 1-2 after 40 minutes of play. In the 45th minute, Leandro Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademir Carvalho in the 48th minute of play forced CA Portugália's goalkeeper Ernesto Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The CA Portugália fans' excitement grew in the 57th match minute when CA Portugália's Didi Pires looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Denílson Urbano hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. If Didi Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Galo do Japi's Kauã Damião got a free kick in the 64th minute. Denílson Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Vargas having to interfere. Benedito Nóbrega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastião Koehler, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The audience was convinced that Evaristo Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benedito Nóbrega was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. In the 82ndth minute of the game Evaristo Coutinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galo do Japi's Benedito Nóbrega was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Evaristo Coutinho got in the 86th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Benedito Nóbrega handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. After 86 minutes, Evaristo Coutinho made it 3-2 with a short kick to the right side. Galo do Japi's Benedito Nóbrega tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. But to his dismay, Evaristo Coutinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. Dudu Alagoano hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. After 93 played minutes, CA Portugália's Evaristo Coutinho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benedito Nóbrega came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CA Portugália reached it. 95 minutes into the match, Denílson Urbano dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ernesto Vargas, 4-3. Galo do Japi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
