The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. MZ Fénix were awarded a corner in the 7th minute after SSV Ulm 1846's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Celso Baía took the corner. Joel Caeiro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 9thth minute, Erich Pitten skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Joel Caeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erich Pitten read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Hugo Bernardes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adam Dieler hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. If Joel Caeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. MZ Fénix's Joel Caeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of MZ Fénix booed when SSV Ulm 1846 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustav Balzer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Adam Dieler ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zarco Bandeira was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Zarco Bandeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miro Klose in the 33rd minute of play. MZ Fénix's Joel Caeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Erich Pitten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Bernardes in the 39th minute of play. Leon Schwemer charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leon Schwemer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hugo Bernardes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goalkeeper Erich Pitten had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Bernardes. SSV Ulm 1846's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Hugo Bernardes scored to the left of an out of position Erich Pitten, making the score, 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hugo Bernardes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Joel Caeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the game, Joel Caeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MZ Fénix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SSV Ulm 1846 the free kick. After 69th play minutes Joel Caeiro shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Erich Pitten and just under the crossbar into goal. Leon Schwemer got his second yellow card in the match during the 75th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 75th match minute, SSV Ulm 1846 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leon Schwemer to maneuver through the defense. Fjodor Odonkor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Zarco Bandeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the SSV Ulm 1846 defense, Joel Caeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erich Pitten. The SSV Ulm 1846 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erich Pitten should have stopped the shot. After 91 minutes of play, MZ Fénix's Hugo Bernardes made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erich Pitten was left in no man's land by his defense there! MZ Fénix's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
