The supporters of Le Stade Briochin UC booed when Inter de Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Gallego didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 16 played minutes Le Stade Briochin UC got a freekick which was hit by Wilfried Pinson. 20 minutes into the game, Freddy Blond was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Le Stade Briochin UC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de Guayaquil FC the free kick. Jérémy Coutier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan-Alfredo Guceño, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 51st minute, Wilfried Pinson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Zunbeltz Inchaurdi got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vera Castro in the 58th minute of play forced Le Stade Briochin UC's goalkeeper Jérémy Coutier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Juan-Alfredo Guceño came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Inter de Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan-Alfredo Guceño couldn't finish the play. The Le Stade Briochin UC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Le Stade Briochin UC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
