When Damaso Lia fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Las Palmas's protests and gave Damaso Lia a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Las Palmas's Damaso Lia got a free kick in the 18th minute. Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's Flavinho Abraão shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 18th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Evelio Naike but with some difficulty. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicanor Fanuco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luís Fabiano Mesquita was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Paulino Gabino showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 51 minute of play. The Las Palmas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Las Palmas's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
