The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Renato Rivera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from César Terra, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Jacques Huerta in the 8thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Remo da Costa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Remo da Costa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amancio Orozco in the 12th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Amancio Orozco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Remo da Costa. Amancio Orozco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. S S Palestra Italia's Remo da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amancio Orozco in the 18th minute of play. With his leg Remo da Costa managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Club Getafe Deportivo's Jacques Huerta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Amancio Orozco sped through S S Palestra Italia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Remo da Costa. In the 25th minute Amancio Orozco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remo da Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Jacques Huerta notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of S S Palestra Italia's Remo da Costa. Remo da Costa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 42nd match minute, S S Palestra Italia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rômulo Macedo to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, S S Palestra Italia's goalkeeper Remo da Costa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacques Huerta. Remo da Costa didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 45th minute, which inside left pole to 6-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

The wind increased when Amancio Orozco made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacques Huerta in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Remo da Costa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Club Getafe Deportivo's Xanti Urruti got a free kick in the 62nd minute. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Luís Paulo da Mata took a quick shot and it went in 6-1 without a chance for Renato Rivera to make any attempt to save it. Remo da Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Amancio Orozco went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-1 was the resulting score. 82 minutes into the game, Club Getafe Deportivo's Amancio Orozco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Remo da Costa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-1. 85 minutes into the match, S S Palestra Italia's goal looked a bit too open when Jacques Huerta came free, but Remo da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru Cartagena took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Remo da Costa. Remo da Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Club Getafe Deportivo fans cheered their team off the field, for while S S Palestra Italia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
