In the 21st minute, Tristram Winterburn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Den Lambert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but 宋庭笑 made a huge save. 宋庭笑 made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dean Cheetham in the 32nd minute. Dean Cheetham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 宋庭笑 having to interfere. David Medley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but 宋庭笑 made a huge save. In the 44th minute, 陈飞邦 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 46 minutes into the game, David Medley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. 宋庭笑 was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. 吕威克 was the one to do the kick off. Den Lambert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mayo had played much better football throughout.
