After 19 minutes of play, FV Wienerwald's Ole Michalowicz made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ole Michalowicz was the one to do the kick off. Christiano Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nickolas Kaiser, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 54 minutes into the game, one of FV Wienerwald:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. FV Wienerwald's Robin Riese was substituted for Björn Bassen. After 60 minutes, Robin Riese mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FV Wienerwald and the Itajaí Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cléber Rezende's late challenge caught a FV Wienerwald's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cléber Rezende helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, FV Wienerwald's Nickolas Kaiser tried to score from far away in the 68th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Jo Jani hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Carlos de Moraes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Klaus-Dieter Beimel. FV Wienerwald's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Klaus-Dieter Beimel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Norberto Abreu in the 87th minute.
