Cezar Ailenei didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rickard Ugla went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Gert Norström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Joel Wall made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Vintilă Ielciu sent off a good shot on target. Elliot Kinnman kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Radu Jilăveanu in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joel Wall saved Gärsnäs BF from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vintilă Ielciu during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls's Vintilă Ielciu got a free kick in the 15th minute. Petrică Negreanu hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gert Norström in the 24th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Cezar Ailenei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Gärsnäs BF's Rickard Ugla got a free kick in the 30th minute. Leontin Raţiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Joel Wall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rickard Ugla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cezar Ailenei having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Gert Norström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cezar Ailenei was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3.

In the 53rd minute, Radu Jilăveanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Rickard Ugla got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Mikael Arvidsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Cezar Ailenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 60th minute of the match Vintilă Ielciu completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Vintilă Ielciu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Vintilă Ielciu hit a great ball. In the 65th minute, Rickard Ugla reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cezar Ailenei. The goal made the score 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rickard Ugla in the 68th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Cezar Ailenei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Cezar Ailenei had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gert Norström. The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when Gärsnäs BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Folke Rydelius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gert Norström was extremely unlucky when he, in the 85th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls's Martin Galiceanu got a free kick in the 96th minute. The New York Red Bulls supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Gärsnäs BF's performance. The match ended with a win for Gärsnäs BF.
