Ferhat Kaan hit a great ball. Vehdi Rıfkı showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danny Gilespie in the 24th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stevie McGilvray got free with Vehdi Rıfkı in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Stevie McGilvray got free in front of the goal in the 29th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Vehdi Rıfkı was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Fergus Fairbairn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmet Orhan Seha in the 37th minute of the match. Ahmet Orhan Seha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gencalp Özdurdu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Recep Memduh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fergus Fairbairn having to interfere. If Recep Memduh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vehdi Rıfkı stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Danny Gilespie's shot from short distance in the 74th minute.
