João Francisco Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christopher Lucas in the 16th minute of the match. The supporters of Olympique Salonais booed when Guarei FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Cavalcante didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Guarei FC's zone, Jarod Hild stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Francisco Costa came out of the goal and Jarod Hild tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the match, Jarbas Gaspar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thibaut Fortin. Olympique Salonais's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jarbas Gaspar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 22 played minutes Guarei FC got a freekick which was hit by Fabrício Sabóia. Christopher Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. João Francisco Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Luiz Fabiano de Almeida had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Jarod Hild charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jarod Hild the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Guarei FC's Yan de Senna was substituted for Luiz Fabiano de Almeida. A collision led to Olympique Salonais getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jarod Hild hit a great ball. In the 36th play minute Hermínio Silveira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Thibaut Fortin. 3-1. 40 minutes into the match, Olympique Salonais's goalkeeper Thibaut Fortin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hermínio Silveira. João Francisco Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarod Hild in the 44th minute of play. Olympique Salonais's Thibaut Fortin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas Gaspar in the 48th minute of play.

In the 59th minute of the match Olympique Salonais got a corner. Guarei FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mike Debruyne ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mike Debruyne made a great header on Olympique Salonais's corner, it was just that Guarei FC's João Francisco Costa managed to reach the ball for a save. Guarei FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Jean-Marie Guerre scored to the left of an out of position João Francisco Costa, making the score, 4-2. 79 minutes into the match, Rachid Vende dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of João Francisco Costa, 4-4. João Francisco Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christopher Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Fabrício Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the match, Christopher Lucas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of João Francisco Costa, 4-5. In the 92nd minute, Jarbas Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Guarei FC's zone, Christopher Lucas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Francisco Costa came out of the goal and Christopher Lucas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Guarei FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Olympique Salonais's performance. The match ended with a win for Olympique Salonais.
