Albertinho Perez started the match with the kick off. Grêmio Prudente's Dedé Zanette played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Vítor Rodrigues in the 3rd minute of play. In the 9th minute, Serginho da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Barral in the 11th minute of play forced Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper Dedé Zanette to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Carlos de Azevedo scored 1-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dedé Zanette, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Grêmio Prudente getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jefferson Souza hit a great ball. Marcel Mendes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dedé Zanette firmly grabbed it by the left post. 25 minutes into the match, Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper Dedé Zanette had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcel Mendes. Ezequiel Barral took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dedé Zanette. Dedé Zanette dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Paulo José Veiga's late challenge caught a Grêmio Prudente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo José Veiga helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Grêmio Prudente booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo José Veiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dedé Zanette came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente FC's Marcel Mendes. But to his dismay, Marcel Mendes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 42ndth minute of the game Zé Carlos de Azevedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio Prudente's Dedé Zanette was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zé Carlos de Azevedo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 43rdth minute, Dedé Zanette skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Romeu Guerra came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Independente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeu Guerra couldn't finish the play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcel Mendes was the one to do the kick off. Albertinho Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Grêmio Prudente booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Ribeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Grêmio Prudente getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Mauro Mattos hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Mendes in the 63rd minute of play forced Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper Dedé Zanette to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Albertinho Perez fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio Prudente's protests and gave Albertinho Perez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Grêmio Prudente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Perez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mauro Mattoss short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Nestor Quintal to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 73 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goalkeeper Nestor Quintal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serginho da Silva. Dedé Zanette showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ezequiel Barral in the 80th minute of the match. Dedé Zanette made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Carlos de Azevedo in the 84th minute of play. In the 89th minute Zé Carlos de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dedé Zanette saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 played minutes Grêmio Prudente got a freekick which was hit by Frederico Linares. After 92 minutes of play, Independente FC's Romeu Guerra made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dedé Zanette was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Independente FC had won after a very even match.
