The Trabzon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuh Akkuş should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Marcel Mendes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nuh Akkuş. Trabzon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcel Mendes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 19th minute Zé Carlos de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuh Akkuş saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuh Akkuş stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcel Mendes's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. If José Vítor Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Vítor Rodrigues in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nuh Akkuş saved Trabzon from getting behind. 32 minutes into the match, Trabzon's goal looked a bit too open when José Vítor Rodrigues came free, but Nuh Akkuş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 34 minutes, José Vítor Rodrigues made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Trabzon's Nuh Akkuş tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. José Vítor Rodrigues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nuh Akkuş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. In the 64th minute, José Vítor Rodrigues ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nuh Akkuş was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. After 67 played minutes Independente FC got a freekick which was hit by Ezequiel Barral. Nuh Akkuş made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Marcel Mendes sent off a good shot on target. 73 minutes into the match, Trabzon's goal looked a bit too open when José Vítor Rodrigues came free, but Nuh Akkuş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ahmet Kağan Mirza's late challenge caught a Independente FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A collision led to Trabzon getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Yiğitcan Tarancı hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Vítor Rodrigues in the 93rd minute of play forced Trabzon's goalkeeper Nuh Akkuş to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute of the match, José Vítor Rodrigues tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nuh Akkuş saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The Independente FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Independente FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
