An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Catarinense in the 25th minute of play forced Valette Stars's goalkeeper Hugues Drevet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valette Stars's Hugues Drevet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Valette Stars from getting a goal against them. Wellington Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Titouan Bellot in the 30th minute of play. Deivid Vaz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 46th minute. Joinville Esporte Clube's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Isaac Mérigot stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gaspard Héraud's late challenge caught a Joinville Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nelson Eger lost his temper 75 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, Joinville Esporte Clube's Nelson Eger got a free kick in the 76th minute. When Ahmid Dunoyer fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Valette Stars's protests and gave Ahmid Dunoyer a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Valette Stars getting a freekick after 78 minutes play.
