An unexpectedly hard shot by Mujahid Teo in the 38th minute of play forced Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Humberto Janus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Mujahid Teo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Albirex Niigata FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mujahid Teo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee showed Roeland Ridder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 45 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's Mujahid Teo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Humberto Janus narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Mujahid Teo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Humberto Janus was relentless in the 48th minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mujahid Teo made a kick off. If Mujahid Teo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. Daniel Chuan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nathan Zegers showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 54 minute of play. In the 58th minute of the match Nathan Zegers sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Daniel Chuan skillfully saved the ball. Humberto Janus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mujahid Teo in the 60th minute of the match. John Cho struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Humberto Janus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Albirex Niigata FC. Humberto Janus dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Mujahid Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Janus having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Benefica's zone, John Cho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Janus came out of the goal and John Cho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 73 minutes into the game, Nathan Zegers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fc Benefica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Albirex Niigata FC the free kick. In the 74th match minute, Albirex Niigata FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afriz Hian to maneuver through the defense. 78 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Mujahid Teo came free, but Humberto Janus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute Antoon van Zelst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Chuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Humberto Janus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mujahid Teo in the 83rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mujahid Teo in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Humberto Janus prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 92 played minutes Fc Benefica got a freekick which was hit by Antoon van Zelst. Afriz Hian kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Albirex Niigata FC had won after a very even match.
