The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 6 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goalkeeper Jurjen van der Gun had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Jardel. Paulo Jardel succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 12th playminute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hélder dos Santos to strike the kick off in the second half.
