With a couple of smart ball manuevers Johny Godefroid in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sonny Bergdal saved Oldham Athletic from getting behind. After 5 minutes of play, Oldham Athletic's Ingvar Bollström made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Richard Widdepenninck was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Johny Godefroid in the 8th minute of play forced Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Sonny Bergdal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Oldham Athletic's Jan Gulliksson got a free kick in the 10th minute. A hard shot by Guy Van Eeckhout from long distance, 11 minutes into the match, got Sonny Bergdal's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 14th minute, Sören Petersson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bram Huyghebaert hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Sonny Bergdal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Johny Godefroid in the 18th minute. After 20 played minutes Invictus FC got a freekick which was hit by Tran De Meyer. 22 minutes into the match, Invictus FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sören Petersson came free, but Richard Widdepenninck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Invictus FC's Richard Widdepenninck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ingvar Bollström in the 23rd minute of play. After 28 played minutes Invictus FC got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Verhaegen. In the 31st minute Ief Van den Berghe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Bergdal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Johny Godefroid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tran De Meyer charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tran De Meyer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Invictus FC's Tran De Meyer got a free kick in the 36th minute. Sonny Bergdal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johny Godefroid in the 40th minute of play. In the 41stth minute of the game Johny Godefroid who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oldham Athletic's Sonny Bergdal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Johny Godefroid could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Sonny Bergdal made a huge save. After the first half Oldham Athletic were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johny Godefroid stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sonny Bergdal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johny Godefroid in the 56th minute of play. Sonny Bergdal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johny Godefroid in the 58th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, Oldham Athletic's Ingvar Bollström ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Richard Widdepenninck. Richard Widdepenninck yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Oldham Athletic's Per-Erik Rydberg was substituted for Agne Stor. When Invictus FC's Johny Godefroid in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oldham Athletic's goalie prevented a goal. In the 76th minute, Emanuel Verhaegen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Invictus FC booed when Oldham Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Bollström didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute, Ingvar Bollström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oldham Athletic fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. After 83 minutes, Oscar Bäcklin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oldham Athletic and the Invictus FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
