Mircea Isvoreanu started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Samuca Fernandes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Frântu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Eric Frântu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélder de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Gildo Miranda nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eric Frântu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Eric Frântu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuca Fernandes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 14th minute, Gheorghe Vlăsiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nelson Rocha was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 18 played minutes Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ got a freekick which was hit by Gildo Miranda. In the 23rd minute, Hélder de Barros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Hélder de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Eric Frântu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelson Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Isvoreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th match minute, FC Steaua Pildesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rareș Ficsinescu to maneuver through the defense. When Gildo Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gildo Miranda couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiaguinho Hermes in the 39th minute of play forced FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Eric Frântu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelson Rocha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mircea Isvoreanu in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute Cornel Rogozea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Samuca Fernandes to make the kick off. A collision led to FC Steaua Pildesti getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Vali Dinculescu hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Mircea Isvoreanu came free, but Nelson Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute Gildo Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Frântu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 64 minutes, Valer Uncheşelu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Steaua Pildesti and the Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 64 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Valer Uncheşelu. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Hélder de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélder de Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Frântu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Samuca Fernandes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Eric Frântu made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mircea Isvoreanu in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mircea Isvoreanu in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Rocha saved Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ from getting behind. In the 81stth minute of the game Gheorghe Vlăsiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Nelson Rocha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 82nd minute Rareș Ficsinescu collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. When Sebastião Koehler fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's protests and gave Sebastião Koehler a yellow card for diving instead. FC Steaua Pildesti's Andrei Voicescu was substituted for Rareș Ficsinescu. After 83 played minutes Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Koehler. The Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
