Theofilos Tripitsidis was slow to take the kick. During this time Kerkyra FC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Kerkyra FC's corner Giorgos Maragozis fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and René Higuita quite easily take care of the ball. Kostas Kazakopoulos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of René Higuita when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Kaplan getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Lucio Soin hit a great ball. With a little luck, Kaplan's René Higuita got control of the ball when Kostas Kazakopoulos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 17 minutes, Lucio Soin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kaplan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucio Soin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Kerkyra FC's Takis Kanavidis got a free kick in the 19th minute. Kaplan's Lucio Soin couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 20th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Kerkyra FC. Kaplan's René Higuita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Kaplan from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kyriakos Lavdas during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kyriakos Lavdas hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Nunez Urtzi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Loukas Kois. Kerkyra FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 31 played minutes Kaplan got a freekick which was hit by Aristides Avellaneda. Kaplan's René Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgos Maragozis in the 32nd minute of play. Fanis Nioras hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Loukas Kois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Ledesma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kostas Kazakopoulos might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over René Higuita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kostas Kazakopoulos ran back to his position shaking his head. Nemesio Mateus kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Giorgos Maragozis made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Kostas Kazakopoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but René Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Kerkyra FC's Takis Kanavidis got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Kostas Kazakopoulos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. René Higuita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 60 minutes into the match, Giorgos Maragozis notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Kaplan's René Higuita.
