René Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl Wissing in the 8th minute of play. In the 9thth minute of the game Abelardo Ledesma who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vorwärts Lübeck's Antonello Di Martino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ferit Port during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Kaplan booed when Vorwärts Lübeck was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferit Port didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th match minute, Kaplan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jimeno Barros to maneuver through the defense. Cem Bauer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but René Higuita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. René Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Nittel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antonello Di Martino was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Abelardo Ledesma capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Abelardo Ledesma really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Cem Bauer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 35 minutes, Karl Wissing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vorwärts Lübeck's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Wissing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Vorwärts Lübeck's Antonello Di Martino got control of the ball when Abelardo Ledesma tried to sneak it across the goal line. René Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Nittel in the 43rd minute of play. Karl Wissing struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. René Higuita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vorwärts Lübeck. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

René Higuita was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Emanuel Nittel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emanuel Nittel really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Antonello Di Martino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abelardo Ledesma's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. René Higuita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karl Wissing in the 62nd minute. Waldemar Scheuch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th match minute, Vorwärts Lübeck was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cem Bauer to maneuver through the defense. The referee showed Cosme Markel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Kaplan getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Cosme Markel hit a great ball. A hard shot 78 in the game by Emanuel Nittel from a close distance when the talented René Higuita managed to make a qualified save. Kaplan's players were relieved. Vorwärts Lübeck's Antonello Di Martino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Ledesma in the 80th minute of play. After having played for 82 minutes, Abelardo Ledesma managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
