The referee ignored Capdevilla's protests and gave Celso Abascal a yellow card for diving instead. Celso Abascal kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Virgílio Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Bartolo Gaitano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Osvaldo Javiero fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Capdevilla's protests and gave Osvaldo Javiero a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, Capdevilla was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Javiero to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cássio Britto in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bartolo Gaitano saved Capdevilla from getting behind. Osvaldo Javiero was shown his second yellow card after 17 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of New Loser FC booed when Capdevilla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Javiero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cássio Britto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bartolo Gaitano having to interfere. Bartolo Gaitano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Paulo Nogueira's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Paulo Nogueira in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bartolo Gaitano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. New Loser FC were awarded a corner in the 28th minute after Capdevilla's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alex Simões took the corner. Cássio Britto was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Bartolo Gaitano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo Nogueira in the 31st minute of play. Olívio Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Capdevilla's Jacobo Raymundo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jacobo Raymundo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Capdevilla protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jacobo Raymundo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 39 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Capdevilla! Bartolo Gaitano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgílio Diniz's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Paulo Nogueira made a kick off. Capdevilla's Bartolo Gaitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Guimarães in the 53rd minute of play. Bartolo Gaitano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute, Evaristo Guimarães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bartolo Gaitano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio Britto in the 62nd minute of play. Bartolo Gaitano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After 68 played minutes, New Loser FC's Alex Simões shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bartolo Gaitano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New Loser FC reached it. Bartolo Gaitano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Diniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgílio Diniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bartolo Gaitano having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Luís Paulo Nogueira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New Loser FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 80 minutes into the match, Capdevilla's goal looked a bit too open when Sandrinho Xavier came free, but Bartolo Gaitano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bartolo Gaitano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Paulo Nogueira went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. In the 85th minute Andrea Shevchenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bartolo Gaitano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Andrea Shevchenko notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Capdevilla's Bartolo Gaitano. Bartolo Gaitano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bartolo Gaitano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Capdevilla's Bartolo Gaitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrea Shevchenko in the 94th minute of play. In the 96thth minute of the game Andrea Shevchenko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Capdevilla's Bartolo Gaitano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
