Imperial's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Froilan Ladio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 13th minute, Froilan Ladio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 15th minute Carlos Fernando Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Fanuco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ramon Quexal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Carlos Fernando Paulista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnaldo Fanuco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 30th minute of the match A.D. Imperial got a corner. Fervent Stalkers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Pernambucano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Agustin Ayala tried in the game's 30th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Arnaldo Fanuco. An annoying self made goal, 2-2. In the 39th minute, A.D. Imperial's Carlos Fernando Paulista dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. Arnaldo Fanuco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando Paulista in the 44th minute of the match. Luís Pernambucano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Arnaldo Fanuco made a huge save. Arnaldo Fanuco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Froilan Ladio to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, A.D. Imperial was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glauco de Sousa to maneuver through the defense. Waldemar Nunes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 54th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Froilan Ladio. Arnaldo Fanuco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabinho Neiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Waldemar Nunes didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 61st minute, which inside left pole to 3-3. In the 63rd minute, Fausto Mero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 64 minutes, Froilan Ladio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fervent Stalkers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Froilan Ladio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnaldo Fanuco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Waldemar Nunes was out of position in the 74 minute of play, and Fausto Mero capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fausto Mero really showed his touch with that goal: 3-4. Arnaldo Fanuco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Damião, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 83 minutes into the match, Fervent Stalkers's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernando Paulista came free, but Arnaldo Fanuco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 played minutes Fervent Stalkers got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Mero. Arnaldo Fanuco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Paulista in the 88th minute of play. Ramon Quexal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of A.D. Imperial booed when Fervent Stalkers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramon Quexal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Fervent Stalkers supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fervent Stalkers would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
