Juventus FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Gino da Rocha. Sporting de Gijón's Arnoldo Ubarna got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gino da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Serafim Ramos during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when G.E. Juventus FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo Pitta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Ariel Urbasa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 38th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelino Pelagius to maneuver through the defense. José Paulo Pitta came free with the goalkeeper in the 39th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ariel Urbasa could save by the left post. 45 minutes in the game, José Paulo Pitta fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ariel Urbasa having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
