Bacardi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raymond Verheije was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fredrik Bennet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymond Verheije in the 35th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Raymond Verheije kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fredrik Bennet. That made the score 1-0 in the 36 minute of play. After 46 played minutes Bacardi FC got a freekick which was hit by Guust Gijselinkx. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience was convinced that Mattias Smefeldt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oliver Pluijssens was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. After 90 minutes, Lou Haesevoets mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bacardi FC and the Samurai players grew even worse after the yellow card.
