The referee showed Galin Metzov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Galin Metzov got a free kick in the 7th minute. Khachatryan's Javier Burroughs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Ganchev in the 10th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Khachatryan's Alistair Leslie nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Evlogi Lukanov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Jeramy LeBlanc hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After 21 played minutes Khachatryan got a freekick which was hit by Peter Gamble. In the 22nd minute, Vasko Haralampiev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lokomotiv Plovdiv fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After having played for 25 minutes, Galin Metzov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lokomotiv Plovdiv's supporters crossed their fingers, but Galin Metzov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lenny MacDowell kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Javier Burroughs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sokol Solakov, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Lenny MacDowell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. From close distance Alistair Leslie pressed in the 2-1 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 38 minutes into the game. A collision led to Khachatryan getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Lenny MacDowell hit a great ball. Vasko Haralampiev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Javier Burroughs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sokol Solakov to make the kick off. The supporters of Lokomotiv Plovdiv booed when Khachatryan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Foster Rivers didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 played minutes Lokomotiv Plovdiv got a freekick which was hit by Zlatin Kotlarski. When Monte Porter fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Khachatryan's protests and gave Monte Porter a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Khachatryan's Monte Porter got a free kick in the 57th minute. After 59 played minutes Khachatryan got a freekick which was hit by Rashad Acosta. With his leg Javier Burroughs managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Ivan Ganchev fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 64 minutes into the game, Peter Gamble was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Khachatryan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lokomotiv Plovdiv the free kick. Thanks to some nice moves Vasko Haralampiev could shoot a difficult shot in the 65th minute, which Javier Burroughs however easily saved by the left post. In the 69th match minute, Lokomotiv Plovdiv was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vute Kukushev to maneuver through the defense. Keith Arden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Evlogi Lukanov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ivan Ganchev in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Javier Burroughs saved Khachatryan from getting behind. A collision led to Lokomotiv Plovdiv getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Ivan Ganchev hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, Lenny MacDowell notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Evlogi Lukanov. Evlogi Lukanov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Keith Arden kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sokol Solakov in the 87th minute of play forced Khachatryan's goalkeeper Javier Burroughs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alistair Leslie might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evlogi Lukanov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alistair Leslie ran back to his position shaking his head. If Ivan Ganchev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Khachatryan had won after a very even match.
