The supporters of FC Buzău booed when Talleres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dieguito Maradona didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nemesio Pacorro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alejo Jerardo charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 19 played minutes, FC Buzău's Sorin Zâncă shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Albino Nofre came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Buzău reached it. Gheorghe Vărzaru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nemesio Pacorro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gelu Chivu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Albino Nofre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Nemesio Pacorro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gheorghe Vărzaru was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The audience was convinced that Lucio Ermengol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gheorghe Vărzaru was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Luca Inculeț charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Fernando Laurgain scored 2-0 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gheorghe Vărzaru, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Narcis Săndulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Gheorghe Vărzaru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo Villagra in the 45th minute. Luca Inculeț got his second yellow card in the match during the 45th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 46th minute, Luca Inculeț hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucio Ermengol in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gheorghe Vărzaru saved FC Buzău from getting behind. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Mădălin Cârnațiu hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Gheorghe Vărzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Laurgain in the 64th minute of the match. In the 78th minute of the match Fernando Laurgain sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gheorghe Vărzaru skillfully saved the ball. Valer Gârdan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albino Nofre having to interfere.
