After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Tonnie Ter managed to get in a good position for a shot. De Pelgrims's supporters rose to their feet, but Tonnie Ter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Buffon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jasper Staarman in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Buffon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 56 played minutes De Pelgrims got a freekick which was hit by Koos Keupink. Marcos Buffon made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Koos Keupink sent off a good shot on target. Marcos Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elbert Spanjer, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jasper Staarman in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Buffon saved AVAÍ F.C. from getting behind. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched De Pelgrims eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
