If Dante Calvet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fausto Abadia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Abraão in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Luizão Dantas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fausto Abadia was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. AVAÍ F.C.'s Augusto Penha got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 39 minutes, Adrian Rumaldo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the EL CORTO FC and the AVAÍ F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. 41 minutes into the game, Aristides Lore was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EL CORTO FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AVAÍ F.C. the free kick. Aristides Lore hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the match, EL CORTO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Dantas came free, but Fausto Abadia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodoro Magalhães in the 47th minute of play forced EL CORTO FC's goalkeeper Fausto Abadia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when EL CORTO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Martxot didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over AVAÍ F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than EL CORTO FC throughout the match.
