The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Bastioes EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabrie-Alejandro La Mettrie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdir de Alcântara struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Douglas Pena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio FBPA. Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio FBPA from getting a goal against them. Adalberto Félix did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Rui Varela 18 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute of the match, Adalberto Félix got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rui Varela was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Bastioes EC were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Grêmio FBPA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Agostinho Reis took the corner. 25 minutes into the game, Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Varela made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 31st play minute Pedro Luís Gomes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rui Varela. 3-0. If Diego Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Luís Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 38thth minute of the game Valdir de Alcântara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bastioes EC's Douglas Pena was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute, Pedro Luís Gomes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rui Varela. The goal made the score 4-0. After 45 played minutes Bastioes EC got a freekick which was hit by Ulisses Mineiro. Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luís Gomes in the 46th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Pedro Luís Gomes made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Gabrie-Alejandro La Mettrie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Osvaldo Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Ulisses Mineiro hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute, Laerte Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rui Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, Pedro Luís Gomes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rui Varela. Grêmio FBPA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Luís Gomes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Gildo Fantini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Douglas Pena made a huge save. In the 76th minute, Pedro Luís Gomes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bastioes EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. 79 minutes into the game, Diego Duarte cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-1. Rui Varela was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valdir de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Douglas Pena having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Bastioes EC's zone, Gildo Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas Pena came out of the goal and Gildo Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 84 minutes into the game, Pedro Luís Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-1. Rui Varela was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Osvaldo Santana hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. In the 92nd match minute, Bastioes EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabrie-Alejandro La Mettrie to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Bastioes EC had won after a very even match.
